North MSP Hails Possibility of Reduced Bills for Concom Customers
14 October 2008
Peter Peacock, Highlands and Islands regional MSP, has welcomed the possibility of reduced broadband bills for Connected Communities customers.
Mr Peacock commented, "I have been in correspondence with HIE about the performance of ConCom for some time now and they have told me they are actively considering reducing the costs of ConCom subscriptions.
"I hope HIE will be able to make an announcement on this soon.
"Unfortunately, there is still concern about the performance of ConCom in some parts of the islands and whilst any move to reduce the costs doesn’t answer these concerns I welcome the fact that customers might get reduced bills."
Peter Peacock has been raising a number of concerns from the community in Barra and the Uists about access to services, the cost involved and `outages' where the service is lost.
HIE have indicated that key investments being made are due to be put in place soon and that services should continue to improve.
